Finally... as Promised

So, in a couple of my previous posts I mentioned a homemade Christmas gift that I couldn't quite share with you yet until after Christmas. Well, here it is a couple months after and I'm finally putting this post up. My sis-in-law Becca has had this thing for owls for a while now. So when I saw this pattern on the Internet I immediately knew I wanted to make it for her for Christmas.
I appliqued the owl by hand, it was the first time I had ever done this stitch, and I love it. It was fun, and fast, very easy to do.

However, I did not even attempt to quilt this one myself. ( or it might have been a couple more Christmases before Becca actually got it) I had it machine quilted and I think they did a very nice job.

If your interested, the name of this pattern is "Remember Whoo Loves You" because of the story behind it. The pattern also comes with the option to embroider the title under the owl. I don't remember which website I ordered it off of, but several links come up if you google it.

Growing Fast

This post is a little late... but here is a pic of Amos at his first checkup. He is growing so quickly already! He is now officially out of newborn diapers and into size 1. We gave the remaining box and a half of unused newborn diapers to uncle Aaron and aunt A.K. for baby cousin. At his appointment he had already grew 3/4 inches and gained 1 pound 4 oz. I know he is already even bigger than that now. It amazes me how fast they grow at that age, its almost as if you could physically see it happening. They don't stay that size nearly long enough.

No Words

I must say, there are just no words to describe how a mother feels when she looks into the eyes of her newborn child. It is a feeling that only mothers can understand. Amos was stingy and hardly opened his eyes for the first few days, so even I barely saw them. When he did open his eyes, they were just little squints. But, here they are, wide open and beautiful!
