Jedidiah arrived before Christmas! He was the best Christmas present ever! (Aside from Jesus of course) He is bright eyed and alert, when he's not sleeping, and just perfect.

Well, my baby girl lost her first tooth! Granted it had a little help so it kinda doesn't count but it was still her first tooth nonetheless.  What happened, you ask? Well she was rough housing with her brothers and bit Levi's shirt. Naturally he yanked it out of her mouth and lo and behold her tooth was loose.
Originally we left it alone thinking maybe it would tighten back up, but over the course of a few days it just kept getting looser, so I decided it was time to pull it before she swallowed it.
I explained to her what I was going to do so she knew what to expect and I told her it wouldn't hurt because as loose as it was I was pretty certain that it wouldn't. I sanitized my hands (we were in the car so I couldn't wash them) then I literally reached in her mouth and lifted the tooth from the gums with my finger and thumb. Seriously, that's how loose it was.
It bled a little so I gave her a wet wipe to put in her mouth, then I showed her the tooth and she just started bawling. Not because it hurt, but because she wanted her tooth back. We had explained it before but I told her again that she would loose all her teeth eventually and new grown-up teeth would come in and replace them. It helped a little but I think she still felt sad.
Although, I think after her visit from the tooth fairy she was just fine.

Still Here

Howdy folks:) I haven't forgotten you and I am still planning on those posts I wrote about last time. My Internet was down for some time, but that's not my only excuse lol. Most of the projects are still unfinished and it may take some serious time before they are. I lost all of my energy as soon as the 3rd trimester hit and doing anything physical right now hurts my hips too much. So call me the lazy pregnant lady :) I do have a couple posts that I can do though of birthdays and such so those will be coming soon (hopefully). And we are counting down until baby arrives! Here is my most recent pic of baby :
well then,  until next time...

Upcoming Events

I have another lovely post with absolutely no pictures for you all, because I know how much you just love to read what I have to say=) But no, on a serious note, I did think about putting "before" pictures, but I didn't want to spoil anything. What am I even talking about? Unless you can read my mind through cyberspace you have no idea, do you? Well, I have all kinds of fun posts coming up soon on some projects I'm working on. Evidently, all of my 2nd trimester energy decided to just hit all at once, because I started 800 big projects at the same time. Let me just give you a list of said projects:
  •  I am taking out a banister on the stairs and putting in a wall.
  • The new wall will be a gallery wall at the top and a place to hang coats, etc. at the bottom.
  • I am recovering my double stroller.
  • I am removing wall paper, repainting, and possibly remodeling the upstairs bathroom.
  • I am repainting, and putting built in shelves into my soon to be craft room.
  • I am turning a full length mirror into a jewelry box.
  • I am redoing a high chair. (but it's mostly done)
  • I am turning the skinny jeans I just bought into actual skinny jeans. (story on that later)
  • AND as soon as I finish getting the material I am making curtains for my living room!
Perhaps there's more, I don't know, I have so many things going on at the same time it's crazy! I'm not complaining at all, it's my own fault. I didn't have to start them all at once. I just got on a roll and when I got to a point where I had to wait on a project, like for plaster to dry for example, I  would move on to something else. I'm actually REALLY excited to be getting these things done! If you're interested you can read on and I will give you a little rundown on where I stand in each project.

  • On the banister, I have it removed. A frame built and put in, and the drywall hung. I just have to wait to get some drywall tape so I can finish that...and I obviously can't do the gallery wall or anything till I get the actual wall done.
  • On the stroller. I have the two canopy's finished and I will soon be tackling the back seat.
  • On the bathroom. I have the wallpaper off. I spent all day yesterday washing all the goop off the walls left behind by the wall paper. (That is hard work, let me tell ya)
  • On my craft room. I have part of the wall torn out to put in the built-ins, and I have all the trim painted.
  • On the jewelry box. I have purchased the mirror and the wood=)
  • On the high chair. It is painted, (has been for a while) I have the stencil made, I just need to get the paint to do the stencil.
  • On the jeans. I have the jeans=) This job should only take a few minutes though.
  • On the curtains. I have the main material purchased, but I intend on getting some black out material to line them with.
So yeah, that pretty much sums it up. And let me just say, don't expect me to do a new post each day with a new finished project=) Some of these are going to take me a while to finish. After all I am 5 months pregnant, and have 5 other children running around (one of which is being potty trained). Add that to the project list=) Although it's been pretty easy so far (hopefully I don't jinx myself). But, we started Monday, and he's not had an accident since before lunch on Tuesday. He still wears diapers to bed right now though. I guess I'll finish there. Keep your eyes peeled for some "before and after" posts!

New Skirt

I went to Hobby Lobby a couple of months ago, basically just to look around while my Husband was in a sporting goods store. Not that I have any thing against sporting goods stores, but when there's a Hobby Lobby around that will definitely be my first pick. As I was browsing I came across some knit material in their seasonal section. I fell in LOVE! They had it in four different colors and I simply could not pick which one was my favorite. They had mustard, coral, a muted navy, and gray. And they all had the lace stripes on them. In my opinion they were gorgeous. However, since I couldn't pick which color, nor did I know what to make with it just yet I decided not to buy it just yet. I fully intended on coming back though! I just planned on not waiting too long since it was in the seasonal section.
A week or so later, Hubby and I had the opportunity to go on a date. While we were out he took me to Hobby Lobby, and since we were without kiddos he went inside with me. I had pretty much decided I wanted to make a maxi skirt with the material... but there was still one little problem... which color. So, since Hubby was there with me I let him pick. He picked the mustard, and I am very happy with his decision. I am really happy with how the skirt turned out. I did not make it maternity, but since it is knit I could still wear it in the pic below, but that will probably be the last time=)
Taking these pictures was a little interesting. I had Hubby take them for me. I wanted the pictures to be taken with the skirt on because I felt like you could see the skirt better on the person. However, I hate pictures of myself. I wanted these pics to turn out all professional like but what you see is what you get. I'm not a model after all.
And here is a more close up of the skirt. I'm tellin' ya, this skirt was super easy to make. It seriously only took me an hour or two start to finish!

I just recently took a little trip to Pigeon Forge, TN with my Mom, Mamaw, Great Aunt, and Sister. I brought along my three older kids and left Amos and Addie home with Daddy. And my sister brought Eli. Us ladies try to go on a weekend trip every year. We've been camping in the past and would do some hiking trails. But my Aunt is starting to get to be unable to do those things any more.

Unfortunately, I have practically zero pictures of this trip to share with ya, but I'll tell you what we got into. The first thing we did when we got there was go horseback riding. Levi and Lydia rode their own horse, and Ephraim doubled with my mom. Sam (my sister) had Eli in one of those belly carriers. I doubled with my belly, lol, and believe it or not my mamaw and aunt Betty rode too. We went on an hour long trail ride. It was nice, but I must admit I was ready to get off by the time it was over. My sister loves horses, and even went to school for an equine degree. Her horse was VERY old as in around 30! and had to be put down recently. So, she REALLY enjoyed the horse riding.

After the trail ride we went to a couple of shops to pass time till lunch, then we ate at Happy Days Diner. It is a place I would recommend, it was quite tasty. The service was not perfect, but it was not bad, besides they were very busy. After lunch, we drove over to Tanger Outlets for a bit. I drive a sprinter van now in order to accommodate 5,000 carseats and while I was waiting for my sister to get back in the van after dropping her off to take the boys potty I had a lady ask me if I was the shuttle. She realized I wasn't before I answered and looked a little embarrassed so I didn't say anything I just smiled.

Next we checked into our hotel, freshened up a bit, then headed back out to our dinner show. We saw the Hazzard County Hoedown. This I would recommend. We enjoyed it. And while the food can not compare to Dixie Stampede it was delicious. The only thing I didn't like is that the food is served buffet style before the show. I would have liked it better if it had been more like Dixie Stampede and the food was served during the show. The kiddos really enjoyed the show too, but the only one that stayed awake through the whole thing was Levi. They were already exhausted from all the other excitement earlier that day. To finish up the day we went back to our hotel and took a dip in the pool. Then it was bath time and time for bed.

We got up fairly early the next morning, and went down for breakfast around 7:30. Our hotel had a full hot breakfast, and it was YUMMY! They had sausage, eggs, biscuits and gravy, cereal, bagels, doughnuts, apple juice, orange juice, milk, coffee, and teddy bear shaped waffles! I'm sure I didn't name everything. It was really good. After breakfast, we checked out of the hotel and headed to the Wonderworks Museum. This place was a lot of fun, I have to say, we had a good time. Most of the things in the Museum were for older kids to young adults. There wasn't much there for mamaw and Betty to enjoy. There were a few things for younger kids. like giant bubbles, but overall, my kids were too small for a lot of it. All this said, yes, we did enjoy ourselves there. BUT, I personally feel like it was overpriced for what it was. The general admission covers everything on the main floor, but if you want to play laser tag or do anything extra it costs more. I don't know, maybe I'm just cheap=) But, I think if the general admission price included the laser tag as well, it wouldn't be AS bad. And I promise I'm not just saying that because I wanted to play laser tag and didn't want to pay for it, because I probably wouldn't have played laser tag anyway. I don't think my kids would've done very well at it just yet, maybe next year. All of that being said that price does cover all day. Even if you leave as long as you still have your ticket (proof of purchase) you can come back later the same day at no charge. So, that does make up for the high price a little, provided you want to come back.

Lastly, we took a quick swing through one of the flea markets, then headed home. We stopped for lunch on the way home at a place called Golden Girls. The food was delicious! However, the service was terrible. In their defense, they were extremely busy. However, our waitress was just unable to handle the pressure I think. She gave us some straws when she brought our drinks out, but was one short so I still needed a straw. I asked for one, she reached in her pocket but was out of straws, instead of just saying I'm out I'll go get you one she pretended she didn't even hear me and walked away. When she came back, I asked again for a straw, she pointed to the table where she had originally laid straws, and said "they're right there." I said "we still need one more" she walked away and came back and LITERALLY threw three straws in my face. So, busy or not that was uncalled for, but maybe she was just having a bad day, I don't know. I don't want to end on a bad note so I will say again the food there was really, really good.

And that's about it, pretty much sums up our little trip.

Paci Clip's

Ever had a baby that uses a paci and when they spit it out it's always in a public restroom and lands nipple side down directly on the floor? Well, that's not necessarily the case here but sometimes it seems that way. My nephew Eli uses a pacifier and my sister is constantly having to clean it because he spits it out and it lands in dirty places.
She talked about buying him some paci clips, but I was like why do that? I'll make you some! So I did. My sister is really into penguins, and her husband has a thing for batman. So, I made Eli a batman clip and a penguin clip. The "ribbon" part is crocheted and the pictures are made out of felt.
Here are some pics of just the clips, one with the pacifiers and one without.
Here is a close-up of the penguin and batman.
And below are is a couple pictures of Eli modeling the m for you. And again, sorry about the horrible quality pics. They were taken with my cell phone in bad lighting and Eli wouldn't sit still. But anyway, you still get the idea=)

SEVEN Years Old!

My oldest, Levi, has just recently celebrated his 7th birthday. I know you hear it all the time, but really, where has the time gone? I seriously can NOT believe that Levi is already 7 years old. He is really growing up. He has changed SO much over just the last year it's insane. The two year wait for him seemed like an eternity and then we finally had him (plus a few more=)) and time seemed to jump into overdrive and go for it without ever looking back.
You may have noticed a pattern in his attire in the last couple of birthdays. He has been "into" superheroes for a while. That doesn't mean he can tell you the name of every comic hero or every villain, or anything about them really, but he likes the idea of it more than anything. So, we went with a superhero theme for his party again this year. Nothing elaborate, just a few decorations hanging over the food table.
Levi had a special request for his cake this year however. He asked me a couple months ago if I could somehow put "Daddy's picture" on the cake, "because Daddy is my favorite superhero" he said. Isn't that the sweetest thing you ever heard? So, of course I wanted to honor this request.
At this point I didn't know edible images existed, but, google quickly made me aware. I called the bakery and asked if they would print off edible images for people. They did, so I asked how much time they needed in order to have it ready in time for the party, and how to store it and things like that. They told me it only took a couple of minutes to print it off and to store it in an air tight baggie, and it was best to use it sooner than later. So, I decided to just get it printed off the day of the party. Unfortunately, it came with no instructions on how to peel it off of the backing, but how hard could it be, right? Well, evidently too hard for me, because this happened:
Complete FAIL. Needless to say, I was unable to use this on the cake. It was so ripped up is was just awful. So, I resorted to just laying the original picture on the cake and calling it a day. (We didn't eat that picture of course) I was still left dumbfounded though about what I did wrong. The lady at the bakery had told me not to get it wet, or put it in the freezer cause that would dry it out. So, I had no idea what could have went wrong and why it would not come off the backing. Back to the google drawing board I went. Turns out these images are extremely sensitive (obviously) and are affected even by humidity. It WAS  really humid the day of the party. Turns out I should have put it in the freezer for a few seconds to help dry it out and help it release from the backing. Oh well, you live and learn, right?
I explained to Levi why I couldn't use the edible image and he was totally cool with it. He was still perfectly happy that we were still able to use daddy's picture on the cake, he didn't care if we ate it or not. He opened his gifts in a flash, I wondered if he even saw what he got. Then after everything was wrapping up my kiddos and their cousin Conrad made their own superhero capes. I was so consumed in the chaos helping Amos and Ephraim not squirt puffy paint everywhere that I was unable to take any pictures of said activity. But I can say they enjoyed it very much!

It's A...

That just so happens to be a BOY!

Sorry about the bad pictures. I hate to admit but I tried several times to get better pictures, but I could not get my camera to take a good picture of the ultrasound paper that the doc gave me.

This Kid will Sleep Anywhere!

Amos is something else. Full of energy and spirit, but when he gets tired he's out! I mean literally drop every thing he's doing and just go to sleep, no matter where he's at. I've caught a few pictures of this as evidence. (If you notice some of them look a little strange it's because he was in his diaper and I colored him some clothes=)) That's another thing about him. Every night he goes to bed with clothes on, and every morning he comes upstairs with nothing but a diaper. LOL
Lately after we put the kiddos to bed they sneak up to the landing and fall asleep. So here you have Amos and Lydia sound asleep in the middle of the stairs. Ephraim was on the opposite side of Lydia, and Levi was actually in his bed=) We usually leave them there till we go to bed, then we go carry them back downstairs and tuck them in their beds.

Isn't he just adorable all snuggled up in a ball tucked in his bean bag?

The pic left is from a few months ago. He was still learning how to dress himself. He tried so hard to get those shorts on, but, he had them upside down and it just wasn't working for him. I guess it wore him out, he gave up and went to sleep. Yep, just like that, with his shorts partially on. Both feet in the same leg hole=)

And this one, we were getting ready to go somewhere. He was supposed to be getting his shoes on while I went to find Addie's shoes. When I came back, this is what I found. I guess it was naptime=)

Wednesday, August 13, 2014

Well folks, I have made it to the halfway mark! I am officially 20 weeks along today. Which seeing as I've never yet made it to a due date that technically means I am over halfway=) (watch me go over with this one lol) I get my ultrasound on Monday and the whole family is counting down. Literally the first thing Levi says to me in the morning is "mom, how many days is it now?" Since he has been learning addition and subtraction in math I usually reply "well, how many days was it yesterday?" "right, so how many does that make it today?" We will find out the gender on Monday (Lord willing) I have never been one to wait to find out. I will be happy to share that news with you then, until then what do you think it is? We've voted in this house and the polls are as follows:
Hubby thinks knows it's a boy;)
Levi: boy
Lydia: girl
Ephraim: boy
Amos and Addie: not quite to the point of understanding yet
My mom: girl
My sister: boy AND girl (lol)
Ben's Mom: girl
My Mamaw: girl
Ben's brother: girl
Our sister-in-law: girl
Friend of family: boy
Ben's sister: girl
So far that has us at 4 boy 7 girl and 1 both=) We shall see!

A New Font

I've decided to change the font on this here little blog. I know bloggers change their looks and font styles all the time and it's no big deal. I mean nothing to blog about, but this time I had a very specific reason and I wanted to share why with all of you.

You see, with the before font, (as seen below) when I would type a word like "darn" for example, the "r" and the "n" would run together and it would appear as the word "dam" instead. Now, I don't want to give anyone the wrong impression and have you think I'm a potty mouth. Not to mention a poor spelling potty mouth at that=) That wasn't the only one, there were others times when letters would seem to run together and make a completely different word. So, I figured a new font would be a good idea.

I hope I have chosen a font now that is not too hard to read. If I have please let me know and I will change it yet again=)

A quick project for Hubby

Hopefully my husband doesn't measure my love for him by the projects I do. Because if he does then he would probably think I don't love him very much. Which, by the way, is definitely not the case. I just find it hard to make him anything that he would actually like. I mean a chevron tie like I made the kids for Easter (post on those coming soon) would definitely NOT be "manly" enough for him. Therefore, crafting for him is a rarity. However, back in March when we made a little trip to Tennessee we made a pit stop at the Smoky Mountain Knife Works. It was there that we saw the below 5.11 tactical shirt. It was perfect for him. Why? Well, there's a little joke in our family, some of us tease him and call him a gnome sometimes. (Because of his beard and his height) He really liked this shirt, but he preferred to have a black shirt rather than a gray one, but alas, there was no black version of this shirt to choose from at the store. So, I said I would make him one.
Sadly, it has taken me until just the other day to actually bring this promise to life. But, I finally did. I'm relatively pleased with the results. It is not exactly like the one at the store, but it's pretty darn close. If I had been able to use a picture of the actual black and white version it may have turned out better, but the only picture I could bring up big enough was full color, and I just printed it off in grayscale. So, there's not quite as much detail as the original, but I'm not complaining, and thankfully, neither is Hubby. Sorry the picture below is such poor quality, I could not find anywhere in my house with good lighting at the time I took it. Not to mention I took it with my cell phone. Obviously, this is not something I could make for anyone else because of copy right laws and such. But from what I understand it's ok for personal use. I'm just glad Hubby likes it, and I actually had a chance to use my crafting abilities for him, for once.

Nail Polish

Every now and then I find the time to actually sit down and polish my nails. Even more rare, sometimes I actually get to add a little design too. And when I do, I like to share just for fun. The following is very simple, I know, there's not much to it, but hey, at least they're not just halfway done because they've been chipping off for the last 3 months=)

Craftin for a birthday

My niece Millie just celebrated her first birthday. Her Mommy and Daddy did an excellent job decorating for her party. They did a woodland animal theme complete with an outdoor/woodsy setting. I have no pictures of her party to share with you, but I wanted to share a pic of the little gift I made her.
It's a pair of crochet booties and headband. Millie's feet are so petite and narrow that it's really hard to find shoes that fit. So, I thought, why not make her a pair? These booties were fairly simple to make, and didn't take very long.
Below the pictures will be a link to the instructions I followed to make them if any of you have a little one that you could make a pair for. There's also directions to make a boys version if your little one is not a girl=)

Addie is ONE!!!!

Ok, so I'm going to start this post off by saying that Addie turned one back in May! I'm just a little behind in getting this post up.
We did a pink and gray theme with elephants. We served subs, then we had cupcakes for everyone else with a small "crash cake" just for Addie. The first pics below are some of the decorations.

I made some cute little cupcake toppers with her name, the number one, and an elephant.
I used a toy elephant and spray painted it silver, drilled a hole, inserted the candle, and used it for the cake topper.

And now, for the fun part! Addie gets to eat her cake. She started off by putting one finger in the icing and licking it off. Then she grabbed a handful and stuck it in her mouth.

I guess she liked it cause after she got a good taste she just dove right in!

She would sit up, smile and laugh then go right back at it.
I guess turning one is hard work because she got SO tired at her party. It really started to show when she was eating her cake. She literally laid down in it and closed her eyes. She would sit up eat some more, then lay back down. She was fighting so hard to keep her eyes open.
Don't worry we didn't let her eat the whole thing. After we took the cake we gave her a bath then let her open her presents.
And last but not least, for your viewing pleasure, a picture of Addie in her party attire. I used a regular white onesie  and sewed on a number one and a elephant. I also made her a cute little tutu and matching bow.  She was definitely the belle of the ball. And I believe she enjoyed every minute of it.

Been A While!

I am SO behind! Adlai had a birthday back in MAY and I have yet to post those pictures. Sad, I know. Also there are some pics of the kids from Easter that I wanted to post, but I'm still waiting on the disc from my photographer... we just haven't had the chance to meet up to exchange that. So at least those two posts will be coming soon. Though I am sure there will be plenty more, it's just finding the time to sit down and blog. Hopefully talk to you soon:)

Tennessee in March

I promised some pictures from our hike in TN, so here are a few. The hike was only supposed to be about 3 miles round trip. But, they had the road closed that led back to the starting point of this particular trail. We had already decided this is the trail we wanted (because of the waterfall) so we decided to walk to the trail. I don't know exactly, but I'd say that added a couple of miles to the trail, then a couple of miles back to the truck.  So all-in-all I think it was around a 6-8 mile hike. I carried Addie to the start of the trail (which was straight up hill, a STEEP hill) Ben offered to carry her, but he was already carrying a 30 pound pack with our lunch, water, and first aid items just in case. So, I felt like I should carry something... and Addie only weighed 15-16 pounds compared to 30 so I picked her=) After we got to the top of the hill though I needed a break. So Ben carried her and the pack through the entire trail, then most of the way back down the hill. I took her back without the carrier and just held her for the rest of the way down the hill. She was tired and hungry and I was trying to console her till we got back to the truck where I could feed her. Up until that point she seemed to thoroughly enjoy the hike.
We saw all kinds of different animal tracks... including a bear track. I took a pick of it next to my foot for size comparison. That was pretty cool. And the trees were huge. The scenery was beautiful. I would say that the turkey sandwiches we packed for lunch was the best food we had there, just because I was so hungry by the time we ate. We sat in the shade while we ate though and I got chilled. SO we ate fast then got back on the trail. We hope to go back and take all the kids sometime. It would be fun to go hiking with them. We'll just have to wait till they're a little older though.

Nursing Cover

Let's face it there are tons of people who make and sell nursing covers all over etsy and such. But... none of them go all the way around. They're all just a rectangle of material with a loop on one side to hang it around your neck. Don't misunderstand me I have nothing wrong with this design, and it seems to work for most people... it just didn't work for me. I don't know, maybe I'm just clumsy when I nurse. But I didn't feel comfortable unless I was covered all the way around. So, I made a cover for myself. I don't have any pictures of my original. It wasn't very good any way. It was my first attempt at trying to make that particular image that was in my head. A couple of years later a friend of mine had a baby, and like me, she wanted more coverage, and asked me to make her a cover. So, I did. Here are the pics.

I would be willing to sell these if anyone was interested. If so, just leave me a comment=)
