Loose Teeth

Levi lost his first tooth today. We were beginning to wonder if he was just going to keep his baby teeth lol. He turned 8 in August and still no teeth were even loose yet. I believe he was getting anxious considering his little sister has already lost 3 teeth now and has another one loose. He would check constantly for loose teeth and when he finally discovered one recently he wouldn't leave it alone until it was ready. Eating an apple today finally worked it loose enough to pull. He was tickled to death and wanted me to call everyone and their neighbors to tell them the news. He is now asleep with his tooth under his pillow awaiting the tooth fairy.

*no sadly he does not still believe in the tooth fairy but we can still pretend

Fuzzy Foes

I don't know what it is about our yard, but it seems to attract an abundance of creatures! Apparently this night it was the pizza but I assure you we don't generally have pizza on our front porch. Seriously, there is no need to go to the zoo when all you have to do is look outside and there's a new animal. On a regular basis we have skunks, raccoons, and opossums. Then on just random sightings there have been coyotes, snakes, a bobcat, a bear (not actually spotted in our yard, but the neighbors driveway... close enough). At least they're not bothering the chickens! (So far anyway)

Fresh Eggs

FINALLY... we are starting to get eggs! So far, we are only getting one a day. I guess that means only one of our hens are currently laying, hopefully the other two will start soon!

Baby Gifts

Here are a few gifts I've made recently for some family that have had babies...just for fun :)

Some "peas in a pod":

Washcloth bunnies
Diaper owl
Altogether in a basket
And lastly, a washcloth bouquet

My Little Diva

My baby girl is growing up! I seriously can't keep up with it. So far she's lost 3 teeth, is growing out of all her clothes, and most recently, got her ears pierced.
She was such a big girl about it. Some people asked me if she cried. Nope, she sure didn't... but I did. (Seriously, no joke)
She picked her birthstone to get pierced with. She loves her new earrings!

Off To See The Wizard

My sister is quite the fan of "The Wizard of Oz" (so am I but probably not as much). She has also been looking for a new purse because the one she had been carrying was getting a little worn out. The picture below is the handle of her old purse after I picked the stitches out and ironed it flat.
We had been looking for a purse for a bit, but hadn't really found anything she liked. Until one day when I coaxed her in to Hobby Lobby, and we came across some "wizard of oz" material. While her old purse had definitely seen better days she still liked the shape and size of it. So, I volunteered to make her a purse out of the wizard of oz material. She was rather excited and accepted my offer.
So, I took her purse home picked it apart and used it as a pattern for a new one. It was fairly simple what took the longest was the quilting. Her old purse was a Vera Bradley and the material we bought was not pre-quilted.
I think it turned out quite well. My sister seemed to like it, what do you think?

The Little Things

We have slowly been making changes around our place in order to transfer our house into a home. Mainly we've been moving a counter in the kitchen and switching most of the yucky carpet and tile on the main floor to laminate. (Pics of that to come soon... as soon as the counter is finished) But, we've also started hanging frames and little things like that. One thing I've done recently is add a little phrase on the frontdoor.
I'm sure you have seen on pinterest where people put the word "welcome" or "hello" beside the door knob. I really liked the looks of that, but I wanted something different. I like to decorate with Bible verses. It helps to surround myself in and have constant reminders of God's word. So when I came across Matthew 7:7   Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: I was instantly  inspired to use part of that verse as my "word on the door".
I really like it! The bottom phrase got a little wonky but I will try not to let my OCD take over, and try not to let it bother me. I really should have waited till the kids were in bed so that I wasn't wrangling 6 kids (5 of mine and my nephew) to stay in the house while I painted it. You live and learn, right? Maybe someday I will repaint it, but it'll have to stay the way it is for now.
What do ya think? Do you like phrases on the door? Have you thought of any different ones to use?
